About me

‘ I take a special moment from the past and bring it through into the present’ My journey into portraiture began with a photo of my Mum when she was nineteen years old and looking truly resplendent in her 1950’s glory. I wondered … could I paint her portrait using this image as my inspiration? And so began a series, a visual love letter to my family, and a new direction in my art. I have two main threads to my art practice these days, one being representational portraits with a pop art twist, the other being landscape. I’m drawn to the melancholic when it comes to landscape , I try and capture my emotional response through shadow and nuance. My mediums of choice are oil and charcoal, and I work from home in Whangaparaoa where I live with my husband and daughter.
