Pictured here with ‘Wedding Day’, my award winning entry into the 2019 Hibiscus and Bays Art Awards.

I have two main threads to my art practice these days, one being representational portraits with a pop art twist. My journey into portraiture began with a photo of my Mum looking truly resplendent in her 1950’s glory. I wondered….could I paint her portrait using this image as my inspiration? And so began a series, a visual love letter to my family , and a new direction in my art.

The other thread is landscape. I’m drawn to the melancholic when it comes to landscape, I try and capture my emotional response through shadow and nuance.

My mediums of choice are oil and charcoal, and I work from home in Whangaparaoa where I live with my husband and daughter.
